Lasik Surgery In The Big Cities

by Art Norman

Is it cheaper for someone living in the United States to go to Canada to have Lasike surgery done? Anyone who is on a budget might be trying to find a place to get it performed cheaper and yet still have a reliable doctor. Some people have gone to Canada to have Lasik done because it was somewhat cheaper but that was before the Canadian dollar got strong.

Lets suppose you are considering lasik surgery in Seattle surgery and you have heard that it was cheaper in Canada. Canada is a short 2 hour drive from Seattle so it might be worth the trip. Unfortunately, in the past couple of years the Canadian dollar has overtaken the US dollar Lasik in Canada has gotten more expensive. Then, if you add in your gas and other travel expenses it becomes clear Lasik in Canada isn’t as cheap as it once was. Also, as the technology gets better and the procedure has become refined, the price of Lasik has gone down in the US as well.

If you are looking for places to get eye surgery, your best bet is by word of mouth. There are many doctors in all the major cities and many Lasik eye surgeons as well making it very difficult to determine which doctor might be right for you. If you have friends who have had the procedure done it would be wise to ask them about their experiences. The more feedback you have about a variety of eye surgeons will better enable you to pick the one that others have felt the most comfortable with.

Although very safe, Lasik eye surgery continues to be a nerve racking experience for many people and picking the right doctor with a good bedside manner is important. Lasik eye surgery is a choice people make and by no means one that is necessary. Thus it makes no sense to have it done by someone you dont have the utmost confidence in and feel right about. Asking your friends will help steer you in the right direction in making a good choice.

Since a person’s eyesight is so important to their quality of life, there is no reason to risk it. If you happen to not like the first doctor you go to, there are many more in all the major cities for you to choose from. It is in your best interests to keep serching until you find the right one.
